Origin
Never sold. No applications. Chosen by our team.
Given to no more than 20 people in the app’s first year.
What the badge says
The Origin badge appears on the in-app profile of people chosen by the eightup team. It doesn’t signal a privilege someone paid for — it signals the team’s trust in that person.
The badge is
- A mark of trust chosen by the team.
- Permanently shown on the profile.
- Bound to the principles — and removed if they are broken.
The badge is not
- A package you can buy.
- A reward you apply for.
- Any power over scores or rankings.
Who gets chosen?
We look at trust, not follower counts. Everyone who receives the badge meets all five criteria.

We verify that the account truly belongs to the person.

Creates regular, original content about food, cities and discovery.

Followers and engagement are genuine; no one is chosen with a bought audience.

Makes a real contribution to eightup through venue suggestions, memories or discoveries.

Accepts the Origin Principles and follows them in every post.
How is the badge given?

No applications
There is no form or application for the Origin badge. Our team selects the candidates.

The candidate confirms that the account is theirs.

Principles
The candidate reads and accepts the Origin Principles.

Two approvals
The badge is granted only with the approval of at least two team members, and every decision is recorded.
Origin Principles
Everyone who holds the badge is bound by these six principles.
Transparency
Every paid, gifted or partnership post is clearly labelled.
Honesty
No review of any venue is written in exchange for money or favours.
The badge is not for sale
The badge cannot be sold or transferred, and no one may be asked for money in exchange for it.
Independence
Badge holders cannot make deals on eightup’s behalf or promise anyone a listing or a score.
Accurate information
Recommended venues and shared information are true to fact.
Respect
Venues, their staff and the community are always treated with respect.
The badge never changes scores.
The eightup score is calculated from visitor ratings; our team chooses the places. The badge gives no advantage over scores or the selection, and no one — badge holders included — can buy a score.
The badge can be revoked.
If behaviour against the Origin Principles is found, the badge is removed. Our team makes the decision and records it.
Against impersonation and fraud
Check in the app
The Origin badge only appears on a profile inside the eightup app. If someone elsewhere claims to have it, check their profile in the app.
No fees, ever
eightup never sells badges and never charges anyone for one.
Report suspicious offers
If someone asks you for money for a badge or offers a deal on eightup’s behalf, report it to our @eightup.ai account or to info@eightup.ai.
Badges for everyone
The Origin badge is by invitation only, but the discovery badges in the app are open to everyone. You earn them as you share memories and discover new places.
The badge isn’t a title. It’s trust.
